Not many people know that Dee proposed to Cinthia (Cid) in front of the Eiffel Tower after the Gay Games concluded in August 2018. She chose the Eiffel Tower because their walk along the Seine River didn’t have a quiet spot in sight, and they never got the chance to put their lock on the Pont des Arts pedestrian bridge (it was closed). Cid very quietly said yes, they kissed, and continued on their Paris-Amsterdam adventure. Shortly after they got home, Dee had Cid pick out an engagement ring. The moment was glorious. From that point until November 2025, the subject of weddings and celebrating themselves mostly turned into bickering matches, awkward silence, or complete avoidance. Dee gets overwhelmed with too many choices, and Cid gets impatient when things feel stuck, so neither one of them was exactly bringing their best self to wedding planning. Thanksgiving Day, with Amber by Cid's side, she called Nikki in Georgia and said, “It’s time. How do we do this without sending Dee into decision overload?” The three of them picked a date when all their kids would be in the Bay, started a guest list, and Cid promised she wouldn’t say a word to Dee about any of it until the end of March. Then at the end of February, Dee caught the travel bug and casually announced she was thinking about traveling in July. So while standing in the bathroom hearing this news, Cid told her they were getting married on Thursday, July 2nd, with all their kids there, and the only thing she needed to decide was whether she wanted to get married in San Francisco or Oakland. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is Dee’s first marriage. It took putting an actual wedding date on the calendar for her to realize what was truly important to her about our day. That’s why this reception feels extra special to us. Thanks for being part of the love, laughter, and very overdue celebration.
