Cindy was in 7th grade and Mark was in 11th grade. We were both attending the same church called Hamilton Korean United Methodist Church. We were just a brother and a sister loving and serving Jesus :) Few years down the road, I started college and that winter, we both attended the Passion Conference together along with the group of us from our church. We were both individually wrestling the weight of serving (many of our leaders had left and we were juggling with so much on our plates). We were both in need of a helper, a partner. For Mark, he took this time to really ask God to send him a helper. In the middle of his prayer at the conference, Cindy popped out of nowhere to drop off a dinner for Mark because she was worried about Mark missing dinner. In that moment, Mark realized that God was answering him through Cindy and his feelings for Cindy began to grow. However, for Cindy, few months leading up to this moment, she has had feelings for Mark as she was serving closely with him at church. In the following 6 months, as Mark continued to make obvious gestures to let Cindy know how he feels, Cindy began to also grow her feelings as well. On June 25th, 2012, Cindy and Mark officially became a couple. Eight months into dating, we both realized in our efforts of figuring out ourselves and our identity, we were at many times, getting in the way of each other's growth towards Christ. So even though we still had feelings for each other, we decided to end our relationship. We spent the next 2.5 years searching for our God-given identity and calling, faithfully serving where God has called us to. We both did not realize that we would ever get back in relationship with one another, but we never stopped loving each other. At the end of that time period, somehow, God orchestrated the circumstances and conversations for us to realize our love for each other and how much we wanted to honor and glorify God through and within our relationship. So here we are now! 💛
