Cindy and Kayley met in 2022 at LGBT Outdoorfest, where they both worked as outdoor instructors. Kayley was immediately captivated by Cindy’s cute look in her hat and her sense of humor. Cindy was drawn to Kayley’s personality and the instant connection they shared. At the event's first lunch, Cindy was sitting alone at a table when Kayley approached and asked, "Can I sit here?" Pleasantly surprised, Cindy responded, "Please do!" The two quickly bonded over their shared love for the outdoors and their sense of adventure. Soon after the event, Kayley slid into Cindy’s DMs, and that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. As their connection deepened, Cindy invited Kayley on an epic road trip that took them across multiple states—from Asheville, North Carolina, all the way to Maine and back to Colorado, with stops at many breathtaking National Parks along the way. Since then, they’ve traveled through countless states, continuing to share their love for adventure and exploration, a passion that still thrives to this day.

One Saturday morning, Kayley and Cindy were lying in bed casually talking about marriage. By this point, they had visited a few ring stores to get a sense of each other’s styles, knowing that a proposal was on the horizon. Both of them secretly ordered their rings online, and it was only a matter of time before one would arrive first. As luck would have it, Kayley’s ring for Cindy was delivered first. Kayley insisted on going to the mailroom alone, but Cindy sensing something was up, pressed her nose against the glass and caught a glimpse of Kayley retrieving a mysterious package. The very next day, Kayley proposed to Cindy in a shared love notebook they had cherished for years. Kayley had just gotten out of the shower when Cindy discovered the proposal note. Cindy looked down and saw Kayley sitting in her office chair, clad only in a towel, holding the ring and waiting for a response. Kayley had forgotten to kneel, but it didn’t matter—Cindy, overwhelmed with emotion, responded with a tearful “Yes!”

Cindy was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kayley’s ring, but the timing wasn’t ideal as they had plans to visit family before Easter. Determined not to miss the delivery, Cindy convinced Kayley to delay their departure. To disguise her true intentions and avoid spoiling the surprise, Cindy told Kayley she was expecting some important fidget toys and didn’t want the package to sit in the mail until their return. Though irritated by the request, Kayley reluctantly agreed. When Kayley’s ring finally arrived, Cindy was ready. She proposed to Kayley with a heartfelt video celebrating the beautiful life they had created together. With a smile from ear to ear, Cindy got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” Overwhelmed with joy, Kayley enthusiastically replied, “Yes!”
