Our first date, July 12, 2014, was supposed to be the end of our relationship. In early Spring 2014, Cindy was out with a friend who was suggesting she try to start dating again. She was telling her about this guy - she hadn't even gotten to his name yet - and he walked in. It wasn't planned, but that was the first time Bret and Cindy met. For around two months, Bret pursued Cindy but she always replied with, "I need to keep on keeping on" and thwarted his advances. Finally, on July 12, Cindy asked Bret to meet her for lunch- she was going to tell him face-to-face why she couldn't date him. Cindy was just sure that Bret was good friends with her previous partner and, in such a small town, that would never work! By the end of that hour, the record was set straight and they had plans to meet again later that evening. That was the beginning of a journey with hills and valleys. They both had some growing and learning to do, but their bond always brought them back together. On July 19, 2017, they discovered the wait was over - and have been together ever since.
