Asher and I met last April when I decided to attend Citipointe Church one Sunday. I always knew him as the “energizer bunny” (as this was his nickname). His soul and heart caught my attention right away as I saw him worship for the first time. His love and passion for The Lord was so mesmerizing, and I knew I wanted to be friends with this strangely exciting boy. He approached me after that first service to introduce himself - and if any of you know Asher personally, you know that he does this with anyone and everyone (he’s such an extrovert). Our friendship grew over the coming months as we hung out in group setting with our mutual friends and soon enough he asked for my number. We talked and shared music with each other on a regular basis, and I found that we not only had a lot in common personally, but with music as well. He then asked me out one-on-one for what he thought was an actual date, and what I assumed was just two friends getting to know one another better. We had an amazing time on what he still calls our “first date.” I refuse to call it such, as I was uninformed the entire time (isn’t that how it always goes). We didn’t hang out alone again for months, well actually, until he told me he had feelings for me. I was completely blindsided when he confessed this. He told me he didn’t want to hang out alone anymore unless I felt the same way. Honestly, I’m that moment, I didn’t know how I felt, so I just said “yes.” And that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. We went out on a date that weekend and after initially deciding to “take it slow” (does that ever actually work out?), we made it official the next week. We’ve been dating for about 6 months now, and know that it may seem “fast” for a lot of people, but we knew we were meant for each other the first week we started dating. He’s the peanut butter to my jelly (jk, he’s allergic to pb, so that’d be bad). We’re so beyond excited to start this next journey together and with God.
