One late February night, a young college sophomore girl walked into the dining center on campus for her first shift. She wasn't looking for love. In fact, she had just became alright with being by herself, getting her life together, and having fun. Then she saw him and boy was he cute (and a college senior, oh my). Also, he was in charge of showing her newbie self around and how the job goes. She didn't know what to do or say, so she followed him around like a lost little puppy dog. It wasn't long before that became their inside joke for the night (and years after). Everything just felt so easy with him from the start. Later that night, she went back to her dorm room, looked at her friends with a huge grin on her face, and said, "Guys, I think I have a crush." The boy admitted to not really being in a good spot at the time, so his crush grew slower than hers, but it was still evident it was there. He started giving her candy and texting her all the time. He wasn't ready for anyone to know yet. When they went out with their work crew, they would sneak hand holds and longing glances. Once or twice they even stole a secret kiss. Then, one day, they went ice skating with a friend and everything changed. They let themselves relax too much and let their feelings show. The friend asked why the two didn't just go ahead and get together already. Talk about awkward (since the two were already sneaking around). That day, though, was the spark that finally led to the final flame being lit. In March, the two had their first real date at a nice Italian Restaurant. It was awkward, or just maybe these two humans are just awkward in general. Then, on April 18, 2014, he asked her to be his girlfriend officially. It was the best choice either of them made in their life. At least their lives up to that point...
Fast forward 6 years, 3 summers of long distance trials, moving in together, graduating college, moving to a new city together, financial struggles, and personal growth, and you land in the present. Now these two lovebirds have seen each other at their best and their worst (especially him seeing her, oh boy), and yet they are still holding strong. For at least the last 3 years or so, they have heard everything from "when are you guys going to get engaged" to people just flat out assuming they are already married. They got tired of correcting people and just went along with everything instead or answered "we're half engaged, because we talk about it a lot, just haven't made it official." Finally, these two knuckle heads have stopped fooling around and have made it official. That's right, people. These two are getting married! Wanna hear about the proposal? Well, you see, the girl has been dropping hints about rings for about a year or so, along with hints of how he could propose. Whenever a special event or holiday would arrive she would think, "Maybe he is going to do it then". Nope. It was around Christmas of 2019 that she accidentally came across a very ring box shaped object in his pants drawer. She quickly covered it back up and pretended she saw nothing. Christmas arrived. "Is he going to do it now," she thought. Nope. New Year's? Nope. Then comes along Valentine's Day, and they make plans to ice skate. "This would be the perfect way to propose," she thought" Yet, it did not happen. They went home afterwards, made dinner together, and watched a movie. When she inevitably had to pee, and thinking the moment had come and gone, she did not expect to see what she did when she came out. The boy had grabbed her favorite stuffed animal (because they don't have pets), put a note in front of it, had the ring by its side, got down on one knee, and asked the question for good measure. Bawling, the girl said yes! Now this is the best decision of their lives so far.
