We met a few years prior to dating on a White Water Rafting Trip planned by our mutual friends. Even though we met, nothing progressed but phone numbers were exchanged with Marcus' mom (Crystal) for future event promotions. Fast forward to 2016, Marcus reached out to me on Instagram and we talked for a little through direct messaging but again nothing progressed. A week later, I thought I sent a message to a woman at my church named "Crystal" and the person responded back "I'm sorry honey, you have the wrong Crystal." Little did I know, Marcus was standing next to his mother when she received the message. Marcus reached out to me again (and the final time he said) to ask if I accidentally texted his mother. I asked him what was his mother's name and he responded "Crystal." WHAT WERE THE CHANCES? Marcus said he thought it was some type of sign and that he should have my number too (lol). And so the story began...
Prior to this day, our families had never officially met. Marcus said his family was having a cookout and I should invite my parents this time so that both families could finally meet. Emily was already coming to the cookout so I didn't think anything of it when I saw her there. When my parents and I got to the house, Emily said we should go through the backyard. I asked her why we were entering through the back, since we never enter that way. She casually responded, "Everyone has been entering this way." When she opened the backdoor and we began walking in, I saw the rose petals on the ground and Marcus standing on the patio with a bouquet of roses in his hands. I immediately began to cry as I walked over to him. Our friends and family surrounded us as the man of my dreams asked for my hand in marriage.
