Our Story

6.27.26

It all started at Gary Comer high school in biology class, when Rome gave Cielo a light-hearted compliment. Little did he know that compliment would be the spark of their forever after. From that moment on, the two were intertwined. Haunted houses, movies, arcades, camping, if there was something to be done, they were doing it together. Rome became Cielo’s biggest fan and would cheer her on at her softball and volleyball games with a red Gatorade in hand. For Rome, Cielo became a bright spot showing him different aspects of life he never expected to experience. After graduation, their journey continued through college, growing together even while attending different schools. Rome attended Northwestern University, and Cielo attended St. Olaf College. Through every milestone, their love and communication stayed strong. Their story returned to the heart of Chicago as they moved into their first apartment together. Cielo began working at a private catholic middle school as Rome finished his degree at Northwestern University. Due to a few discrepancies on seasoning and a couple of smoke alarms, Cielo quickly came to the realization that Rome should handle the cooking. Cielo handled dish washing duties after informing Rome that the dishwasher was only used for storage. This era was filled with a ton of funny firsts and growing up together. In the years since, they have hit many milestones. Professionally, they have been teaching for five years at the same Noble network where they met. They have had the honor of being selected as the godparents to their ahijados. They have also been able to check many travel destinations off their list. They both attempted to show interest in the other’s hobbies. Rome joined Cielo on her pickleball journey, assisted with the weeding of vinyl for her Cricut projects, and has even learned how to do a Spanish dance or two. Cielo, on the other hand, joined a fantasy football league, struggled through her first anime (she watched a full season though!), and learned to identify Retro Jordans vs. Team Jordans. Thirteen years after that first biology class, they are ready to hit their next milestone but they can’t say “I do” without you! Join them in Puerto Vallarta where the two will embark on the next chapter of their story.
