It had been weeks of messaging each other and talking about eventually hanging out. After two times of failing to meet up, he decided to ask me out for the third time. At the time, I was not looking for a commitment, but I was always down to grab a bite. We had decided on dinner, and that he would pick me up. To be quite frank, I was nervous yet excited. Funny enough, I didn’t know why, but I had a weird feeling about that day. He drives up to my house, gets down from his truck, and shakes my hand. In that moment, I knew he was different. He opens my door, and I suddenly felt more nervous. We get to our destination, have dinner and a few drinks, and the connection is there. He went from being someone I was going to hang out with to the most important person in my life.
It is true when they say life has a funny way of working out. Love may come knocking when you least expect it. One moment I’m on a date with this gorgeous, funny, and very friendly girl, and the next I’m inviting her over to meet my parents. We weren’t officially dating at the time that they met. I took the initiative to present her to my parents as my girlfriend anyway! Why as my girlfriend? Well, because I never brought girls over to meet my parents, and I found it awkward to tell them, “Ella es mi amiga.” Long story short—she didn’t get scared away, I officially asked her out, and now we get to count down the days until we spend the rest of our lives together!
