Steps to take before traveling to Curacao

Complete the Digital Immigration Card All international visitors are required to complete the Digital Immigration Card (DI card) within 7 days prior to departure. How to I get to/ from the airport?

Answer

Your room reservation includes transportation to/from the airport. Complimentary shared roundtrip airport transfer. (Has to be reserved a minimum of 48 hours prior to check in date through email: guestjourney@avilabeachhotel.com )

The ceremony will start at 5pm. Seating starts at 4:15pm

Is the ceremony / reception indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will take place outdoors. The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place at Avila Beach Hotel at Octagon Plaza (concrete) The reception will take place on the beach- in sand.

What is the dress code?

Answer

We’ll be on the beach so think tropical. Our wedding colors are bold and tropical earth tones- red, blue, orange, green, tan.

Can I bring a date?

Answer

As much as we would love to let everyone bring a guest, please only bring one if your invitation says "and guest" on the envelope. This information will be provided with the RSVP. If you have questions, please reach out to Ciara or Donnell

What local currency is used? Can I use US dollars?

Answer

You can use US Dollars everywhere in Curacao. There is a fixed exchange rate. Most stores, restaurants, and hotels will accept credit cards and debit cards. Some attractions require cash, especially the attractions further away from Willemstad, so it's always a good idea to keep a small amount of cash with you in US Dollars or Caribbean Guilders. Taxis generally can't accept credit cards or debit cards either, but they will be more than happy to drive you to an ATM.

Visa and Eurocard/Mastercard are accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted, but American Express is not accepted everywhere. If you plan to use American Express, be sure to check if your card is accepted before racking up a large bill.

Is the hotel close enough to the city to walk downtown?

Answer

Willemstad is the capital of Curacao. The centrally located Avila Beach Hotel is just a 15 minute walk away from the historical downtown city of Willemstad. Your walk will be a scenic walk as the neighborhood offers some beautiful historical sites and lots of cozy bars and restaurants. So chances are you won’t be able to make the walk in just 15 minutes. Willemstad on Curacao is a not to miss must do when visiting the island.

Is it safe and reliable to use a taxi in Curacao?

Answer

If you wish to make use of a taxi on Curacao during your stay, our front desk employees are happy to arrange one for you. Taxi drivers on the island are usually very honest and fair. However, it is recommended to agree on the fare with the taxi driver beforehand.
