Courtney and I both met for the first time at a mutual friend’s dinner party. I will never forget the way she looked that night. Although the timing wasn’t right just then, I would get another chance a few months down the road. We ended up running into each other again at a piano bar in Danville, Ca. We had some drinks and danced to a few songs together. Before I knew it, my friends were ready to head to the next spot. We headed down the street but I couldn’t get the beautiful blonde girl off my mind. At that moment, I immediately turned around and headed back to the piano bar. I found her and asked if she would like to go on a date with me sometime and to my surprise, she said yes. The rest is history. - Rory
After an amazing weekend in Vegas with friends for the NFR and my 30th birthday, we knew we would need a full weekend to recover like anyone over the age of 25 who spends more than one day in Vegas. We decided on Marina, Ca with our pup and fully intending to do absolutely nothing but relax, read books, throw the ball for Camo and have an occasional glass of wine. Little did I know, Rory added a particular item to the itinerary that would make for an unforgettable and perfect weekend. On our second night, I suggested we go on the beach to catch the sunset and take a family photo ( I think Rory had full intentions of this, looking back at it now). Once on the beach, we asked a couple to take our photo. As Rory calls Camo over and attempts to take a knee, I completely "Courtney" the situation and ask what he is doing kneeling. He suggests he is kneeling with Camo for the photo. Completely unaware of what Rory is attempting to do, I assure him he is totally fine to stand with me and we will make sure the couple takes a few photos so that Camo isn't cut off. Now that Rory's plan is destroyed, he is frazzled for a plan B and I am none the wiser, we proceed to take a few photo's with a beautiful sunset. Standing. might. I. add. Once the couple returned my phone, I suggested taking a few more photos of Rory and Camo because the sunset just kept getting better. Rory kneeling with the dog, hand in his pocket and grin spread wide across his face, I approach to show him the self-proclaimed amazing photos, thats when he asks, ring in hand!! I have to admit, I blacked out from shock but I remember parts. He had some really nice things to say about us as a couple and the positive impact we have on each other. I remember saying something like "shut the hell up, are you serious?!" and "is this real life" of course answering his question with "hell yeah!" while holding back tears. Humor aside, it was one of the best days of my life. - Courtney
We decided on Scottsdale, AZ for a few reasons. The most important being this is the place where our journey really started. After running into Rory and Brett that night at McGah's, I somehow invited myself along for a boy's trip to Scottsdale, AZ. Fast forward a couple of weeks and bringing along a girlfriend, we had attended one Giant's Spring Training game, danced and sang at Whiskey Row, and just like that Rory and I were inseparable. Scottsdale will forever hold a special place in our heart. We can only hope that you all get to make unforgettable memories while in town for our wedding! -Courtney & Rory
