We met in March of 1994 at my best friends get together. I was a new mother of twins Tyler and Taylor. We dated until October of that same year. Strangely enough, it wasn’t really a break-up, just a pause in our journey. Fast forward 23 years later, that same best friend ran into him at 7-11 while on the phone with me. I smiled when I realized who she was talking about at the store. I asked her, “Does he have on a wedding band”? She said no girl, but he is walking to the car with a little boy about 10 or 11 years old. He made it to the car, spoke to Ms. Quintina and hugged her while introducing my future son Xavier to her. Then he got on the phone with me and those old feelings came rushing back for me when I heard his voice and we exchanged phone numbers. We later talked like no time had passed but in that same time frame he lost his mother Christine Conway Melton. After her transition to glory, we continued to get to know one another as we continued to grow in the Lord! In October of 2017, we decided to take a leap of faith and trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ our love for him and each other, our courtship began. By the early months of 2018 we decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We didn't have the traditional engagement or proposal, but it was perfect and fitting for us. No announcement necessary but I was able to pick out several rings that I liked, but the catch was he would surprise me with one. The winner was the one that gave me the most joy by his standards as he watched my reaction. I will never forget the day I received the ring, it was on my mother’s birthday, July 30, 2019. With that being said, we are friends, who like each other. Knowing how important that is in a relationship, “Our Hearts" can rest with each other. October is and has been such a significant month for us. We ended, started over, and now we will become one on October 12, 2019. 25 years later! #AtLast
