Our first Night

Once upon a late Saturday night—technically Sunday morning—Britney walked into a bar with no expectations, no agenda, and absolutely no clue that her whole life was about to get flipped, twisted, and kind of upgraded like a phone plan with unlimited texts and emotional support. Jacob was already at the bar, running the pool table (like that’s anything new). She spotted him across the room, not in a cheesy movie way with slow-mo and violins, but in a “hey-he-looks-like-he-doesn’t-tolerate-small-talk” kind of way. Intrigued. Fate (and maybe a mutual friend or few too many drinks she had) got them talking. And from that moment on, they just... clicked. No awkward pauses. No fake laughs. Just conversation that flowed like cheap beer on karaoke night. They talked about everything and nothing, laughed at each other’s weird thoughts, swapped stories, and—before they knew it—the sun was coming up like it was trying to eavesdrop. Most people would call it a “spark.” Britney called it "the least awkward night I’ve ever had with a complete stranger who turned into the love of my life." Naturally, they left the bar and wanted to hang out more, but the universe wanted to test this budding love by throwing a minor crisis their way. In a moment of weakness and fries-induced joy, Britney ordered Whataburger. She had one goal: get her damn milkshake. But when the bag arrived… no shake. None. Just an empty hole where happiness should’ve been. Britney was livid. A specific kind of rage only felt when your promised ice cream and receive betrayal instead. Jacob, brave soul that he is, witnessed this milkshake meltdown and did not run. Instead, he offered solutions like,
“Do you want me to drive to another Whataburger to get you a shake?” (Even though the closest one was across town.) It wasn’t the shake that mattered—it was the fact that Jacob cared. From that moment on, Britney knew: if a man can handle her Whataburger rage with kindness, he might just be the one. Fast forward through late-night drives, weird inside jokes no one else understands, playlists made with intention, and one very memorable proposal… and now here they are. Still talking. Still laughing. Still completely unshaken by missing milkshakes.
Because when you find the person who feels like home—even in a bar, even in the middle of a fast food crisis—you don’t let go. You just order fries, hold hands, and keep laughing ‘til the sun comes up.
