Dating in your late 40s isn’t for the faint of heart and trying the apps again was just a way for Heidi and Chuck to pass the time with both of them not really looking for anything. Somehow Facebook Dating brought Heidi to a bearded guitar player in a bucket hat looking for someone to share the end times with and Chuck found a live music obsessed music teacher! They immediately felt a quick connection through their love of music, gas station treats (if you know you know!), and love for the important people in their lives. Heidi and Chuck met the day before Heidi was headed to Louisville and St. Louis to see Pearl Jam for the weekend but that didn’t stop them from keeping in contact. Lots of videos, texts, pictures, and phone calls were shared throughout that weekend and a first date was planned as soon as Heidi got back from her concert road trip. Chuck picked Heidi up at her Logan Square apartment, surprised her with a gift of Muppet figurines (way better than flowers!), and they headed to the lakefront for a walk seeing Lake Michigan is a special place to the both of them and then to the Golden Nugget for a bite to eat. Chuck asked Heidi for a selfie to commemorate their first date and a 2nd date was planned for the next day. Heidi had a trip to Minneapolis planned to see Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at First Avenue. She decided to take a chance and asked Chuck to join her even after only knowing him for a week! He said yes and it was the best decision the both of them have ever made! That trip solidified everything. They both knew that they were it for each other and they’ve been inseparable ever since. The past years have been years where they have built their love and support for each other as they navigated through some of the hardest things any couple could go through…grief, sickness, change of jobs…yet it’s only strengthened their connection. Chuck proposed to Heidi on her 51st birthday at their favorite place, Sawyer, MI in Harbor Country which is why their wedding will be held there too. When Heidi first came to Chuck’s home and met his mom she told Heidi that she’s been praying novenas for Chuck to find someone. Thank God that she did! We are forever grateful for the prayers that brought us together!
