Chrystin was born to Rupert and Catherine Canales in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and Luke was born to Benny and Denise Benton in Florence, South Carolina. Growing up, Chrystin attended San Diego High School in San Diego, Texas, where she was an active cheerleader, public speaker, and member of the FFA. In comparison, Luke grew up in Wilson, North Carolina, where he enjoyed playing tennis and cheering on the Clemson Tigers. It was no surprise that he chose to spend the next five years at Clemson University after graduating from high school. Chrystin moved to Denton in 2013 to attend the University of North Texas and loved North Texas so much that she decided to stay. Luke was offered a position with Bell right after graduation and moved to Fort Worth in January 2020. Like many others in 2020, Chrystin and Luke turned to online dating off and on over the next few years. At the time, Chrystin had recently become a BCBA and was working in Flower Mound. One evening, while staying late at the office (as healthcare workers often do), she decided to restart her Hinge account and updated her location to the town where she worked. It turned out to be a great decision — doing so brought her within the mileage radius Luke had set on his own account. They met for the first time on March 27, 2023, at Babe’s Chicken. Now, they are thrilled to begin a new chapter — and a new anniversary — on this very special day, surrounded by all of you to witness it!
