Chrys knew he wanted to propose on our annual Fourth of July lake vacation with our families in Augusta, Georgia. Three months prior, he had the ring and all the details of how he was going to surprise Savanna with his proposal. Upon leaving for vacation, Chrys mentioned that they would be golfing with his cousin, Max, and his girlfriend, Kalie, in an attempt to get Savanna to wear something other than lake clothes. Savanna packed her finest athletic clothes. They changed the plans to TopGolf, and while they were away, Chrys and Savanna's families decorated the proposal spot and the lake's convention center for the engagement party afterwards. Savanna lovingly joked for the last time about when Chrys was going to get around to proposing. When Chrys and Savanna returned to the cabins after their outing with coffees to provide for everyone, Savanna had a feeling something was about to happen when he encouraged her to leave them in the truck for a second. Chrys took Savanna's hand and started walking down to the water where a picnic table and backdrop were decorated and the sign that read, "Will you marry me?". Once she said, "Yes," he told her that they should go to this building where our families were waiting. When they pulled into the parking spot, Savanna recognized the car next to them and started questioning what was going on. Most of their friends and families were gathered to celebrate the engagement with good food and lots of pictures.
We first met in our 6th grade gym class. Neither of us thought much about each other besides the few classes we shared in middle school. We started becoming close friends through school, attending devotions with friends, and church in 9/10th grade until we realized we were each other's best friend. A special thanks to the Spanish class we shared; we have been together since 2017. We survived four years of long-distance dating while we attended different colleges where we grew in our faith as individuals and as a couple. Upon our graduations, we both earned our education degrees and have started our teaching careers as well as using our unique platforms to share God's love.
