Brian and Kayla met their 7th grade year at Corriher Lipe Middle School. Their mutual friend introduced them. It wasn't until the 9th grade, at South Rowan High School, that the two became interested in one another. You could find them hip-to-hip in the hallways, and when they weren't at school, they were texting and FaceTiming. It took Brian a year to find the courage to ask Kayla to be his girlfriend. On September 18th, 2017, Brian asked her under the ferris wheel at the Rowan County fair. He handed her a yellow dandelion and asked her to be his girlfriend.
On their five year anniversary, Brian and Kayla drove to Boone, NC, to celebrate. They spent the day eating southern food and gazing at God’s beauty. Before they headed home, the two took one more look at the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a popular spot to view the Blue Ridge mountains. There, Brian asked Kayla to close her eyes, and when she did, he placed a flower in her hand. When Kayla opened her eyes, Brian pulled a ring out of his pocket! The rest is history.
