How it all Happened

In May of 2018, Christy was planning a trip to Tucson, Arizona to finally visit her friend after almost 5 years. While on facetime one night, Courtney says "you know, I think you would love Reeds friend, Marko". Thinking that it was probably never going to happen, Christy laughs and says no, all while looking on social media for this "Marko" person. Finding him on instagram and following him, all while learning his name is Bailey, and not Marko, little did she know what that simple follow would lead to. Bailey, who was deployed to Africa at the time, woke up the next morning to a follow request from a random girl from across the country, and a missed facetime call from Reed. Once stories are set straight, Bailey ends up reaching out to Christy with a simple DM, "not to be too forward, but wow". The two spend the next two months texting and facetiming back and forth, knowing that Christy was coming down to Arizona in July. The week in July finally came and left, faster than expected. In Christy's words, she left Arizona that week "basically in a whole ass relationship". The two did long distance for the next 9 months. This time included Christy starting and finishing her senior year of college, Bailey deploying to Afghanistan, and as many cross country trips they could squeeze in. In January 2019, after spending almost a whole month with each other, the two knew that they didn't want to be apart for much longer. They decided that after Christy's graduation and after Bailey returns from Afghanistan, Christy would make the cross country move to Arizona. In the words of Christy's friend Emily, "she was moving in with someone she only met 4 times." As crazy as it sounded, it felt right. June of 2019 came, and Christy did just that. She drove cross country with her friend Sam and her sister Erin. The move was better than anyone could have imagined. So good that, one year later, in June 2020, they were engaged.
