Fittingly, it all started with a Simpsons joke - specifically, the one about steamed hams - that brought us together. Our first date was a brunch in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, early enough so we could split if it didn't go well... and suddenly several hours had gone by, and we were still on the date, having moved across the street to the record store to search through the stacks for old favorites and maybe find something new. Little did we know that two years later we'd be back in that same record store for our engagement photos.
December 2018 was our third Christmas as a couple that we would also spend apart. It was our last night together before we traveled to spend the holidays with our families in separate states, and we spent it opening our Christmas gifts together. I had commissioned one of our friends to draw a picture of our cat Koops for Tony, and figured I had absolutely nailed the gift and could declare gift-giving victory. Then I opened Tony's gift, saw a ring box and Tony down on one knee...yeah, he definitely won Christmas. The proposal was just the two of us (plus Koops) and a blur of tears and love. It was perfect.
Join us September 6, 2020 for our wedding day! Please note that if you are not able to travel to the Seattle ceremony and reception, we are planning to host a second reception in Michigan in December 2020. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
