It's a reception. We made things legal back in November 2019. And, not to brag, but we're pretty great at this whole "being married" thing. We want to celebrate with the people we love in a way that we didn't get to when we actually exchanged vows. So call it whatever you want—we just hope you'll party with us!
Apparently it's called "Garden Cocktail," but wear whatever makes you feel festive, comfortable, and ready to party. Keep in mind that we'll be outdoors, so very high heels might be a challenge, as there are patches of dirt and gravel.
October in LA is still pretty warm. This time of year, temperatures are usually around 65-75 degrees, and it does cool off a bit as the sun goes down.
So are we! We recommend renting an Airbnb in the area, but there are also lots of nearby hotels if you prefer. If you're struggling to find a place to stay, please get in touch with us! We're more than happy to help figure out logistics.
Technically we're tourists, too! We've pulled together some suggestions on the Things to Do page.
Orcutt Ranch requires everyone to be vaccinated. We'll also be outdoors in the fresh, Southern California air.
If you ask Christopher, he's either going to launch into a comparison of Victorian chaperone and calling card culture to today's technological dating mores, or he's going to talk about the ridiculously infinitesimal chance of both himself and Sarah having the same dating app, similar texting styles, and free time available when they matched on Tinder. Sarah just says, "on our dumb phones." Both are a part of the story. The rest is that we then met in person at Butter and Scotch, a combination bakery and bar. Christopher was early and reading a book, Sarah was on time and smiling. We shared a cookie and our drinks and then went for a long walk, and it was so electric and cozy at once that we haven’t wanted to be away from each other since.
We've been married for three years and living together even longer—we have everything we need (and that our small apartment can comfortably contain), and there is truly no need to get us anything. We're just glad to finally be celebrating! If you still feel so moved, we have created a small wish list, accessible on the Registry page.
