How We Met

Christopher and I met in the fall of 2015, when we both started working together in Brooklyn. However, it wasn't until the beginning of 2016 that we really hit it off. One day, before our shift ended, Chris slipped me a piece of paper at my desk which said "Drinks with me later; circle yes or yes". Of course I chose “yes” and Chris took me to Cebu. We had a few glasses of wine, great conversation, and the rest is history.

How He Asked

Chris and his family have vacationed in Aruba since he was 3 months old. We were only dating for about 6 months when Chris asked me come on the family vacation for the first time and this year was our third trip to Aruba together. About a week before we left to Aruba this year, we were visiting my family in Manalapan. That morning, Chris and my father went for a ride to get bagels - that is when Chris spoke with my father (and yes, he gave Chris his blessing). A few days later, on Christmas Eve, Chris and my father spoke about when and where the engagement was going to happen. At that point, Chris knew it was going to happen in Aruba and he started to make plans to have my parents fly down to Aruba for the big day! Chris' family flew down to Aruba on December 26th, Chris and I flew to Aruba on December 29th, and my parents flew down on January 2nd. On January 2nd, Chris made reservations for one of my favorite restaurants, Quinta del Carmen. We both got dressed for dinner and went for a sunset stroll not too far from the hotel. When we got closer to the beach, it was extremely windy and the sand was blowing everywhere! Because it was so windy, Chris said ‘hey let’s get a drink at the bar.’ I was hesitant, but Chris insisted (Chris’ parents hired a photographer, but Chris didn’t see the photographer on the beach yet). We sat down at the bar, ordered two glasses of my favorite wine, and Chris immediately said “hurry up! Drink your wine, the sun is going down!” Little did I know that Chris saw the photographer on the beach! Once he saw the photographer in position, he knew it was game time. Chris got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and told me he loved me. My first response was ‘no, no, no, no, this isn’t happening!’ Chris asked me to marry him and I said yes! After taking some photos, Chris and I went back to the room where our parents were waiting! It was an amazing night.

For all the days along the way
