We actually met at NYSC camp in 2019, in the same platoon, 8. Funny enough, our first real interaction was on the volleyball court. The guys had finished their practice, and the ladies were about to start. I like sports, so I was just hanging around “supervising.” 😄 She was about to step into the court and asked if I could hold her bag. In my head I was like, “ah, this fine girl trusts me with her bag? I must be a responsible-looking guy.” 😂 Of course I said yes. After the game we chatted a bit, and I even gave her small feedback on her playing. She was good, but I felt she could be better. But as a soft girl, she wasn’t too bothered about all that improvement talk. 😅 From that day on, we kept seeing each other around camp and talking. Before leaving camp, we exchanged contacts and somehow never stopped talking about everything and anything going on in our lives. We became really close friends, and in 2024 we decided to stop playing and be intentional about us. Now we’re getting ready to tie the knot. Life is funny like that, I went to serve the country and found my person instead.
