How it all started

It’s incredibly difficult for either of us to pinpoint the exact moment we met. However, an evening in mid-January of 2014 stands out in both of our minds as the night that changed everything. Both of us found ourselves at a local crowded bar, Christopher arrived first and I was not too far behind. With only three seats left at the bar, my friends and I grabbed them. Almost instantly, I knew just who I was sitting next to but decided to act like I had no idea. I was nervous because I had been shoved in his direction at a company Christmas party the week before by a friend who knew that I had a crush on him. After that embarrassing encounter I made the decision to try to play it cool. After sitting at the bar for over an hour, waiting to see if he would say anything, my friends started to get restless and left. Once alone, it took no time at all for Christopher to turn and say, “Nichole, right?” We sat at the bar for easily four hours, if not longer, and talked about anything and everything. Neither one of us wanted to get up and move; we both felt like the only two people in the entire bar. From that night on, the rest is history.

The Proposal

Feburary 6, 2020

The proposal took place while on vacation in Breckenridge, Colorado. On one of our last evenings of the trip we traveled a little ways out of town to an overlook called Sapphire Point. In the middle of some questionable weather, we took a short walk to the overlook above Dillion Lake, which was completely snow covered and amazingly beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful with the snow falling and absolutely no one else around expect for myself, Christopher, and my Dad. We stopped to admire the view and take a few quick pictures before the sun set. The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee! My heart completely stopped; I couldn’t believe it was finally happening. Once I finally caught my breath, saying "yes" was the easiest thing I have ever done! It was an amazing moment and being able to share it with my dad made it all the more special. A friend of ours (who was supposed to be at the proposal) was able to make her way to Breckenridge during the snowstorm to help us celebrate. It was an evening we will never forget! We're so excited to celebrate this next adventure in our lives with you. See you in Waynesboro!
