How it Started

December 19th 2020

We met the new classic way, on Hinge. We had our first date at Alvarium brewing in New Britain. Megan wore her favorite pair of keen hiking boots since it was winter, which she believed was only practical. Chris embraced her quirky date night fashion choice and they proceeded to talk for very many hours. It felt like they could talk forever, so Megan figured she'd give Chris the chance to go on another date with her. The rest was history!

6 Moves in 5 Years

August 2021

When we first moved in together finding a rental that accepted dogs and during COVID housing craze was a struggle. We ended up finding a much to Swiss cabin inspired colonial in Windsor, just down the street from Chris' closed office. Chris had just finished his actuarial exam and he spent this time going down a personal finance rabbit hole and appearing inspired to own rental properties. During the next 5 years we would move 5 times, acquiring, living and then renting out properties (Vernon -> Vernon -> Manchester -> Willington -> Storrs). A big thanks to all our friends and especially Megan's family who helped us during this time!

The Proposal

November 1st 2024

Some (Megan) would say it took too long. Some (Chris) would say hopefully we have another 70 years together, so whats the rush. The proposal almost had to wait another year. A few weeks before, Chris broke his foot carrying a bag of dog food downstairs. The doctors told him to give it 6 weeks but Chris thought that was a normal person timeline and his bones would heal enough to do the hike in 3 weeks. Chris also didn't realize that making an engagement ring takes a while. But luck was on his side and the ring arrived right before heading to the airport. Chris proposed at the end of a hike in Sierra Nevada, outside Granada, Spain. Megan knew something was up because he walked slowly and talked the whole way, rather than trying to race to the top. Her first words were not the "I do" he was hoping for but rather an excited "I knew it!" which Chris hoped meant yes. I guess we'll have to wait to see if Megan says "I do" in Wethersfield.
