Meet Us at The Drowned Lands & Slow Down & Stay A While
I met Chris when I was 21 and trying to navigate the vibrant yet challenging world of my early twenties. I was trying to get through school, and work side jobs. He was a charming 25-year-old at the time who happened to visit my side job. Thus, our story began in the Snug Harbor bar, on my shifts. He would come in on Wednesdays, and his arrival was always a highlight of my shift, bringing a little spark to my routine. Before long, I found myself eagerly anticipating his visits; his absence one night stirred something in me, and I realized I was purposely looking for him. Our first date was at the Light Horse Tavern in Jersey City. It was just like a first date set scene in a movie. The lights were dim, candles were flickering on all the tables. We opted to sit at the beautiful rustic bar. The laughter flowed as freely as the conversation, and maybe one too many Maine Lunches. Chris at one point just stopped all conversation and kissed me in front of everyone. Like I said, movie scene. From that moment forward, we became inseparable, carving out our little world filled with shared dreams and memories. Then came the unprecedented times of the pandemic, which, while chaotic for many, unfolded into a transformative experience for us. We quarantined together, finding solace in one another’s company. Our days were filled with exploration and adventure as we took invigorating three-mile hikes through scenic trails, or just around Kearny. On occasion, we would make the trek into New York City to visit beloved breweries like Other Half and Hudson Valley, where we would excitedly sift through craft beers to stock our cooler for cozy nights at home. The evenings were rich with laughter and creativity as we indulged in our shared love for TV, binging on everything from classic films to the latest releases. Ozark was our quarantine show. Even amidst the global turmoil, our love thrived and deepened, weaving a tapestry of unforgettable moments. However, life took a dramatic turn when I faced the daunting news of a cancer diagnosis. It was an unimaginable chapter in our lives, but Chris remained my unwavering rock. He was there through every fearful moment, every tear, and every ounce of uncertainty. From the very beginning, he chose to stand by me, walking alongside me as we navigated this intense journey together. With resilience and hope, I gradually healed, and we took the significant step of moving in together. This transition marked the beginning of a new ERA in our relationship, one filled with even more shared experiences and growth. Looking back, these five years have been nothing short of phenomenal—full of love, laughter, and unforgettable lessons. We’ve survived home renovation, traveled around the world, and embarked on fulfilling career paths that allow us to flourish. Now, standing on the brink of our next adventure, we are both excited and ready to embrace a new title in our relationship, affirming our deep bond and commitment to one another. Each day is not just a step forward but a celebration of the love we have built and continue to nurture together. WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN THE FIANCE ERA.

Man of Honor
Matthew Cross, Lauren's younger brother, is currently embracing what he affectionately calls his "Matt of Honor Era." As Lauren embarks on this exciting new chapter of her life with her partner, she knows she still needs the unwavering support of her brother. Their close bond has been a constant throughout their childhood; they've shared countless adventures together, from memorable trips to vibrant Las Vegas to attending a series of Taylor Swift concerts, where they've celebrated their shared love for music. Given their deep connection and the special role Matthew has played in Lauren's life, it feels only natural for him to step into the role of Man of Honor. With his charming personality and knack for picking on Lauren, everyone is eagerly anticipating the heartfelt and entertaining speech (saved from high school) he’s sure to deliver on this momentous occasion. It’s bound to be a highlight of the celebration, reflecting not just his love for his sister but also the unique bond they share.

I first met Sara during our college days at NJCU, where we both sported matching Victoria's Secret pink backpacks, a quirky coincidence that sparked our friendship. Our bond began in a bustling classroom, where I remember feeling a mix of annoyance and amusement as a girl cut across our conversation, completely disregarding the ample space around us. From that moment on, the rest truly became history. As we navigated the ups and downs of NJCU, often venting about the late hours of our evening classes, we found a sense of comfort and camaraderie in each other. Together, we shared countless moments filled with laughter and tears, compiling a treasure trove of unforgettable memories. Years later, as I stood by Sara's side on her momentous wedding day—celebrating her love and joy not once, but twice due to the challenges of COVID—I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. It is with great honor that I now look forward to having her stand by me on my own special day.

I first crossed paths with Victoria in our Abnormal Psychology class at NJCU, a vibrant setting filled with engaging discussions and plenty of laughter. From the very first lecture, we discovered a shared sense of humor that made the coursework enjoyable. Our bond grew stronger as we took on more classes together, including one particularly unforgettable course where the energy was palpable. I remember the scene vividly: eager female students would sprint to the front of the lecture hall, vying for the best seats near the professor (Mr.R). Meanwhile, Victoria and I claimed our favorite spot in the side corner, where we often exchanged giggles and friendly chatter—much to the dismay of our professor, who would frequently remind us to stop talking. Our friendship flourished as we embarked on countless adventures together, from singing Crash into Me at Madison Square Garden, on the floor at Metlife for Ed Sheeran, to wandering the streets of New York City for an Emily and Paris event. With every outing, our shared experiences became treasured memories. Having Victoria by my side as a bridesmaid fills me with joy and gratitude, knowing I have such a wonderful friend to celebrate with!
