It's crazy how a book started our journey to where we are now! A simple Facebook post about the book "50 Shades of Grey" by Keli peaked Chris's interest. Questions were asked and a new friendship, turned into hiding our attraction for each other, from friends until we couldn't hide it any longer. Our first real date was to a Florida Georgia Line concert and we have been going to concerts ever since.
We were in Washington DC for Chris to run the Marine Corps Marathon. The day before the Marathon we started our day at the Air and Space Museum with friends. We had a great time visiting and ate lunch at Five Guys. It was rainy and cold that day and Chris mentioned that he wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial. I tried to talk him out of it since it was rainy and cold but he insisted, saying it was his favorite. We walked for it felt like 20 miles to get there. He stopped at the bottom of the stairs to Honest Abe and he says "do you really wanna go all the way up"? I was thinking in my mind, we did not walk all this way to not go to the top. He says well lets just take a picture here first. I'm holding an umbrella while our friends take the picture. Afterwards, Chris takes the umbrella from me and lays it on the ground, and I'm thinking, what is he doing?? All of a sudden he says, well I know I have been grumpy for the past few weeks but, and reaches in his pocket and starts to go down on one knee and says, "surprise will you marry me"? It took me a moment to process everything and he had to ask once more before I said yes. It was a perfect moment to say the least!!!!
