How We Met

Two of our good friends met on New Years Eve and their love story began. As they got to know each other, they decided it would be a fun idea to each introduce a friend of theirs to the other. That's where OUR love story begins. Neither one of us were even slightly interested with the idea of being set up which resulted in our friends being sneaky and lying. Separately, they swore to each of us that the other one was interested and really wanted to meet. Chris, just trying to be a nice guy, gave in and said to pass along his number to me because it was inevitable that we would be hanging out as a group anyway. I said no. I wasn't falling for it. So my friend pulled the final straw and gave Chris my number without me knowing, and that was it! We started texting on January 18th, 2017 and never stopped. I lived in Ellensburg at the time and he was in Fircrest. Our first time meeting face to face wasn't until February 10th, 2017. We were all nerves when we finally met at Titlow Beach in Tacoma. We spent every weekend driving back and forth to see each other until I moved back home to Tacoma in March. We've been inseparable ever since.

The Proposal

On our one year anniversary, Chris recreated our first few dates. We had breakfast at our little diner, spent the afternoon playing air hockey and mini golf, and we were going to end the day at our first date spot for dinner. In the middle of the day, he dropped me off with my mom and sister to get ready for dinner while he went to help his grandma with a favor that he promised her earlier. After getting all dolled up for dinner, I thought they were going to be dropping me off at the restaurant but we were going the wrong way. At that point, I was getting so excited at the possibility of what I thought was happening. We ended up parking in Steilacoom and they told me to walk to the dock, where I saw Chris waiting for me with twinkly lights all around him on the dock balcony. He got down on one knee and proposed and I said YES! My dad and his Mom popped out after and it was so sweet to be able to share that moment with some of our close family.
