Important Travel Info for Our UK Wedding – ETA Requirement

As many of you will be traveling internationally to celebrate our wedding with us in the UK, we wanted to share an important travel update that may apply to your trip. The UK has introduced a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system. This is similar to the U.S. ESTA and is required for many travelers (including U.S. citizens) who are visiting the UK for short stays such as tourism, visiting family, or attending events. If you do not hold a UK or Irish passport or a UK visa, you will likely need to apply for one before traveling. Key things to know: - The ETA is an online travel authorization required before you board your flight to the UK. - The application is completed online or through the official UK ETA mobile app. - It costs about £16 (around $20 USD) per person. - Approval typically takes minutes to a few days, so it’s best to apply at least a few weeks before travel. - Once approved, the ETA is usually valid for 2 years and allows multiple visits of up to 6 months at a time. - Every traveler needs their own ETA, including children and babies.
