We first met when Chris came home from serving in the Marines and was going to grab a drink with an old friend. Jenna went along with "said friend" who was her roommate at that time and all throughout college. During that first meeting Jenna was convinced Chris wasn't interested in her because he would only talk with their mutual friend. However, over time as the entire friend group would hangout, Chris and Jenna soon realized they got along and would hangout together - just the two of them. It was over a year into their friendship when we both had the thought "Wow! This person is really cool and kind of cute. I should ask her/him out." From then on it has always made sense - Chris and Jenna. We go together like margaritas at a Mexican restaurant.
We had talked over the years of combined friendship and relationship of hiking at Devils Lake in Wisconsin. The seasons would change and we never got around to it. Then in late summer of 2022 Chris asked me if we have any plans the weekend of 9.24.22 (this was two months out!) I casually said no but immediately my ears perked up and I was convinced IT was going to happen. Then over the course of the two months I forgot about it. Then the day came where we drove out bright and early to Devils Lake to go hiking (with Finn of course). Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as we were hiking. That was until Chris placed the GoPro so perfectly on a rock to get a picture of us with the view of Devils Lake. He ducked behind a rock and what felt like 5 years later he came to join me in the picture. He turned to me and asked me to marry him - at least I think he did, I truly can't remember anything in that moment. Although, I do remember letting out an excited high pitched squeal when I realized I was going to have forever with Chris.
