Chris and I both went to Canfield High School but never knew each other, which is rare for such a small town. We ended up reconnecting while I was finishing my senior year of college studying Social Work and he was working toward his Masters in Biology at Youngstown State University. My roommate at the time, Allison, and her now husband Michael, brought Chris over to our condo a few times in the summer and fall of 2014; and I always thought he was cute. Then, Chris and I both went to the same Halloween party (thanks again to Allison and Michael!) in Pittsburgh, and everything started from that point on. We went on our first official date in December 2014 and never stopped!
Chris and I had talked about getting engaged for at least a year before he proposed. He took me to try on engagement rings in February 2018 and from that point on I was waiting (impatiently) for him to propose! Chris picked me up on a Wednesday night for a date night and suggested we went to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. Once we got there, I knew he was up to something. He wasn’t paying attention to the flowers or the conversation, and kept looking around. At one point he suggested we take a picture and he then asked a complete stranger to take the picture for us. As I was posing and smiling for the camera, I realized that he was slowly getting down on one knee! I am pretty sure I said yes before he even got the entire question out. We immediately FaceTimed our families to share the news and celebrated with champagne.
