As of April 2025, U.S. citizens are now required to get an eVisa before coming to Brazil. We put together a guide above with the links and info you'll need to get started. The guide also has Breno's legal name and our address to put as your contact in Brazil.
Hotel
This is our recommendation for a comfortable, affordable option in the center of Brasilia. It is centrally located to the city's top sights (TV Tower, National Cathedral, JK Memorial, Congress) and across the street from the restaurant where the Welcome Dinner will be held. At the time of writing (January 2025) a standard room from Thursday, August 7 to Sunday August 10 will cost about USD$205 with the 20% discount code. Additional hotel options are listed at the bottom of this page.

Flight
Brasília's President Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport is well connected to all major Brazilian cities with affordable flights. Direct connections to the US will go through Miami (on Gol, an American partner) or Panama City (on Copa, a United partner). Other convenient international connections include Lima and Buenos Aires. We highly recommend that you spend more time traveling in Brazil! Brasília is a lovely place to live, but you can see all the top sights in 2-3 days. In the spreadsheet linked below, we've suggested some itineraries with links to example flights. A few highlights here: - According to Breno you haven't been to Brazil until you've been to Rio :) - There are far more international flights into São Paulo than any other city in Brazil. Consider starting or ending your trip there (or be prepared for a layover there). - If you plan to visit multiple cities, it may make sense to buy separate tickets to arrive and depart from Brazil. This will give you more flexibility to get the best prices. - Internal flights are relatively cheap if you plan in advance! We hope this will help you make the most of your travel time!

Uber is the easiest way to get around Brasília and all major cities in Brazil. Rides are safe, affordable, and consistently available. When you exit the airport in Brasília, you will cross over two passenger pick up lanes (past drivers offering taxi rides) and find the Uber pick up lane just before the parking. The ride should take about 15 minutes and cost BRL$40-90 depending on rush hour. This is USD$7-15 at the current rate of 6 Brazilian reais to 1 dollar. Please take additional care with your phone if you traveling to São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro where crime rates are higher. The best practice is to book your car and wait inside the place you are leaving. Note the type of car and first letters of the license plate so you don't have to continuously look at your phone on the street. Unfortunately phone snatchings are still quite common, usually from someone riding by on a motorbike.
