In the spring of 2018, Angela worked out at Orangetheory in Akron, Ohio. She saw Brittany Wakefield, (now Stoila) and remembered her from high school. They started to work out together. One day, Brittany and Angela were on the treadmill. Brittany said she had a friend who she thought would get along well with Angela. Angela said she was single but she was leaving soon for Thailand and she would be gone for two months. A few weeks later, Brittany asked Angela to meet her for dinner. She asked her then boyfriend, Ben (now husband) and Chris to meet the girls for drinks, after. Angela was very nervous during dinner. By the time Brittany and Angela met the boys for dinner, Angela was feeling very chatty. She talked the boys' ears off. Chris hardly said a word. (If you know Chris, you know how shocking this is!) At the end of the night, Chris asked for Angela's number. He waited 72 hours to text her. (He was following the three day rule.) Their first date lasted for 5 hours. They talked and talked and talked. They quickly realized how much they had in common. Angela left for Thailand 10 days after their first date. They kept in touch via texting and Facetime. When she returned, they picked up where they left off as though she never left. They have been together ever since. Christopher and Angela enjoy traveling, walks with their pup, house projects and spending time with family and friends. They can't imagine their lives without the other.
Chris took me to dinner at TJ’s Pub at the Ramsdell Inn. We sat outside on the patio. After dinner, we walked along the marina boardwalk. While we were walking, Chris said “This walk isn’t pretty enough. Let’s go somewhere else.” We decided to go to the 5th Street beach and walk the pier. When we arrived at the pier, the wind kicked up and the waves were really big. The pier was blocked off. We weren’t allowed to see the lighthouse. Chris asked a stranger to take our picture and claims he was seconds from kneeling. Next, we decided to walk on the 1st Street beach. We had to get back in our car to drive there. This beach was going to be our third attempt at a walk in one night! Once we got there, we found sand dunes. We climbed the sand dunes to see where they led. We found secluded dunes that were absolutely stunning. We could see land and water into the horizon on both sides. I was stunned by how beautiful of a place it was. Chris rambled on and on about the waves. I wasn’t really listening. I remember thinking this would be the perfect place for Chris to propose. Chris said, "There’s a lot of uncertainties in life. But there is one thing I am positive about,” then he stepped backwards and said “Remember this? (the ring) Will you marry me?” I ran to Chris and hugged him really tight. I was so happy I forgot to say yes. Then I yelled yes. It was one of those rare moments in life where you can see just how much someone loves you based off their reaction. Chris cried and I stared at him. I felt so incredibly loved. It was such a beautiful moment. Then, we took (a lot of) pictures, and Facetimed our families. Our parents and siblings were so excited for us. They couldn’t believe it. When we left, we went to the only bar open in Manistee, Michigan during COVID, The Highway Inn. It was a grungy dive bar. We loved it. Meryl and Mitch ordered us champagne to celebrate. It was such an amazing night.
