We met through a mutual friend at Civil Liberties Bar in Toronto. Alex ordered a cucumber daiquiri and Chris ordered a martini. Sparks flew, more drinks were ordered. Exactly a week later, Alex and Chris were back in the same spot and shared their first kiss. The rest, as they say, is history.
It was Alex's 29th birthday, which Chris needed as cloud cover to avoid blowing the surprise. Chris took Alex to (you guessed it) Civil Liberties Bar, which the staff had kindly opened for just the two of them. Chris presented Alex with her gift: her dream watch. As Alex's emotions started to get the best of her, Chris mentioned that he had the back of the watch engraved. Alex turned it over to see "Marry me?" etched into the caseback. She turned around to see Chris on one knee, holding a ring that had been forged out of his grandmother's engagement ring and wedding band. Alex said yes, champagne was popped, and the two of them spent the rest of the evening galivanting around Toronto with friends. We're so excited to have you all be a part of this next chapter with us. See you at the AGO!
