For those of you who don't know, we met online on Plenty of Fish. I'd tried the online thing several times, to no avail. This time was different. For the first time in a VERY long time, I wasn't looking for a relationship. I was just looking for someone to hang out and spend some time with. I was getting ready to leave for a tour in Japan, which would be promptly followed by an eight-week tour in Europe. It was not the time to look for anything serious. Chris and I started talking online sometime in early February. He was easily the sweetest man I'd ever conversed with online, and he always seemed to know what to say to make me blush. After a few days of chatting back and forth, we decided to talk on the phone. I was so nervous. Even though it wasn't my intention, I already liked him, and I was already thinking about where it might lead. We were supposed to talk at 8, and I was sitting in my room anxiously awaiting the phone call. It was 8, then 8:03, then 8:05, then 8:10, and still, nothing. I was already beginning to feel let down and preparing myself to move on. Finally, around 8:15, I called him. He answered, and he said he'd forgotten about the show he and his son watched together on Wednesday nights, and asked if he could call me afterward. I said, "Of course!" He called me later that night, and he turned out to be just as sweet over the phone as he was online. I was hooked. We talked one or two more times over the phone after that, and then, on February 14th, 2015, he came to the Riegelsville Tavern to see me play a gig with the Todd Wolfe Band. There was a crazy snow storm that night, and I didn't think he'd make it, but finally, during one of our breaks, I saw him walking toward the door. He's told me many times he remembers seeing me through the window that night in my white sweater and thinking, "This is it." He was right :)
