First comes high school, then comes marriage. Chris and Alana met walking the halls of George Washington Carver’s High School for Engineering and Science. They first crossed paths early in the days of their freshman year, though they never became close friends. After three years of exchanging playful glances, Chris finally mustered the courage to talk to Alana. His opening line—how do you make french toast? But time wasn’t in their favor. The two shortly left for college and life would take them on separate journeys until their path crossed again. Six years later, the two reconnected and rekindled via social media. A post of Don Julio tequila sparked a conversation and the rest is history.
One thing this family loves is football! Alana’s Dad was one of the biggest die hard Eagles fans you ever met. So naturally he had a fit when he found out Chris was a Cowboys fan! (Booooooo!) If you know anything about Eagles fans, you know their distinct hate for any cowboys fan. That's how her Dad knew that Chris was the one for Alana. He loved him enough to see past his hatred for anything cowboys and enough to give him his blessing to marry his daughter. A match made in Heaven. With her dads blessing Chris began secretly planning.
2020 was definitely a year for the history books itself. The Quarantine was something no one saw coming but Chris knew nothing could stand in the way of his surprise plans. For Alana's birthday, it was decided that they would celebrate by having a tea party. It was a very eventful Quarantea. A small group of friends and family gathered for what Alana thought would just be a lovely birthday celebration. There was a zoom call to help other people join in on all the fun. Alana opened all her gifts, or so she thought. She was handed a bottle of champagne. A note attached to the bottle said “One More gift. Turn Around!” Alana turned around and there Chris was on one knee surrounded by their close friends and immediate family! It was BEAUTIFUL! Of course Alana said Yes! OUR BIG DAY is coming, and we can’t wait to share it with our closest friends and family.
