We first met as young kids in Niger, long before we ever imagined what we would become to each other. At the time, we weren’t friends, just two kids whose families had known each other for years, crossing paths every now and then. Life eventually brought us both to the U.S. for college, two people far from home, just trying to survive classes and life in general. What started as a simple friendship quickly turned into a strong bond. We became best friends, the kind who knew everything about each other, our stories, our dreams, and our struggles. At some point, everyone around Adam started saying the same thing: “Christine would be perfect for you.” After hearing it enough times, Adam decided to be brave and shoot his shot. Let’s just say… it didn’t go exactly as planned. Christine said no. (We like to say she just needed a little more time to come to her senses 😄) But even after that, nothing changed between us. We stayed close, still best friends, still each other’s person in so many ways. Then Adam left for bootcamp, and that’s when things got real. Turns out, distance makes the heart grow fonder. Christine wrote Adam a letter every single day, yes, every day, and made sure he had everything he needed while he was away. Through those letters, the care packages, the distance, and all the unspoken feeling, something clicked. That was the turning point. By the time we were reunited, we both knew what our friends had seen all along. We weren’t just best friends, we were meant for each other. And the rest… is just the beginning of forever 🤍
