What is a Sangeet? What is an Aiburo Bhaat?

Answer

The word Sangeet literally means "sung together" in Sanskrit. The overall mood is that of a joyous rehearsal dinner crossed with a lively dance party. The primary goal being to foster connection and strengthen bonds between Christine and Vikram's family and friends ahead of their wedding. Expect music, dancing, drinks, and fun! Ai Buro Bhaat in Bangla translates to bachelor/bachelorette rice and is a celebratory meal for the bride and groom before marriage. The primary goal is to celebrate Christine and Vikram's individual transition from single life to marriage the following day. Essentially, Ai Buro Bhaat represents a heartfelt sendoff—one last meal for Christine and Vikram as unmarried individuals, surrounded by loved ones, marking the end of one chapter and the hopeful beginning of another. Expect a joyous occasion with traditional Indian food and drinks.

Question

Where can I learn more about Indian attire?

Answer

Designs are endless so go for what you feel best, whether that is something simple or more elegant with more embroidery. Below are some of the more common styles and ones we recommend for women: Lehenga: A two-piece or three-piece set that consists of a crop-top blouse, a long maxi-skirt, and a scarf (dupatta). A popular choice that is acceptable in any occasion and easy to move in, with one of the widest selections of colors, designs, and price ranges. Anarkali: A gown that you wear with leggings depending on the length and a decorative scarf (dupatta). The gown is either ankle or floor length. Another good choice. Indo-Western: This is a mixed style with more modern/trendy elements from fashion all across the world. This can come in the form of a fusion sets, kurta sets, palazzo, and more Sari: A more traditional outfit that you might know of. We recommend that you make sure you will be comfortable in this outfit and feel free to go with a pre-stitched/ready pleated one if you chose to do so. Below are some of the recommended styles for men: Kurta: A cotton or silk fabric top, that are versatile and comfortable. They come with a pajama-like silk pants. Certain kurta styles can come in a 2-piece with either vest or a scarf (dupatta). Hate the pants? Ditch them for a color complimenting chino or pant. Finish it with any loafer or dress shoe. Sherwani: A more formal and elaborate look. Generally, the go-to for the wedding day. Can ditch the pants for dress pants and loafers/dress shoes. IndoWestern: Another formal look that is a go-to for sangeets or weddings. Same comments on the pants and shoes. Guys have it super easy.
