Christine and Romani’s story began on the Chicago River during a church group outing in the summer of 2022. Romani had just arrived in the city to begin his residency, while Christine was already in Chicago as a medical student. From the very beginning, something felt easy and familiar. Romani was captivated to Christine’s joyful spirit, and Christine found herself drawn to his warmth, humor, and the way he made even the simplest moments feel lighter. As the seasons passed, their paths continued to cross: at church, in coffee shops, and along the winding paths of the river and lake. Romani found countless reasons to help Christine study, though those moments often turned into long walks, shared laughter, and evenings that stretched late into the night. Together, they gazed up at the stars from rooftops across the city, where Christine shared her knowledge of the space and the universe. In those moments, Romani knew he had found a love written into the stars themselves. What began as a beautiful friendship slowly and naturally became something deeper.
