Thomas Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University which was formerly Philadelphia Textile) is where we first met all the way back in August 2015 on a soccer field under a red moon. We were both 18-year-old architecture students and the first thing I (Christine) asked Reid was "where are you from?" and he said "South Africa". I believed this to be true for at least 3 years. Though it wasn't love at first sight, over the years of college we started to have mutual friends and eventually became real friends ourselves after studying abroad in Rome together in the Fall of 2018. We paired up for a studio project that took up most of our time, energy, and will-to-live for the Spring 2019 semester. During this time, we discovered how well we work together, how perfectly we balance each other out, how much we could support each other in stressful times, and how we can always ALWAYS make each other laugh. We began to cross the line into "best friends". The end of college, the beginning of the pandemic, and subsequent personal tragedies brought us even closer. Texting and phone calls turned into hikes and movie nights. Things became official in March 2021 and we have been nearly inseparable ever since. We've traveled, adopted a cat, gone on countless hikes and camping trips, moved in together, bought a house, attended many a family gathering, watched and attended so so many Phillies games, danced down Broad Street in 4 Mummer's Parades together, supported each other through failures and losses, celebrated successes and wins, and done everything else in between.
