Dear Family & Friends, We’ve come to the difficult decision of canceling our wedding on June 28, 2020 due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 and the restrictions on gatherings in Maryland. We are instead marrying in a private ceremony at home and we hope to celebrate with you in the future. Love, Christine & Nick
They can't remember the actual day they met! But they do know it was sometime during the winter of 2009-2010, between December and January, while they were both students attending Towson University. It was the winter known around Baltimore as "Snowmageddon" or the "Snowpocalypse" due to the unusual number of snow storms that happened. Christine and Nick were introduced through mutual friends and learned they had similar interests in books, movies, and music. However, after their sophomore year at Towson ended, they fell out of contact, dated other people, and several years passed before their paths would cross again.
In late August 2015, Christine and Nick reconnected over Facebook when Nick sent Christine a friend request and wrote her a message asking her how she'd been over the years and if she'd like to catch up sometime. They made plans to have lunch together at RA Sushi in Harbor East that weekend. They bonded again over a mutual love of nerdy things, such as the Game of Thrones TV and book series (they named their dog after the character Queen Daenerys "Dany" Targaryen). They both admitted to having thought about each other on occasion over the years since college. Ever since that first date on August 29, 2015 they've only had eyes for each other. It may not have been love at first sight, but it certainly was at second sight!
One of Christine and Nick's favorite things to do together is to explore and visit small, historic towns. On December 22, 2018, Nick planned a day trip to visit one of their favorite places: Collingswood, NJ, a charming town in Camden County with a Quaker history that dates back to the 17th century that Christine used to visit when she was a college admissions recruiter. Well, they hit terrible holiday traffic on the way there since it was Christmas weekend, and the 1.5 hour trip ended up taking closer to 3 hours each way. Despite the traffic and Christine dealing with a migraine, it was all worth it for the Bananas Foster Stuffed French Toast at Sabrina's Cafe on Haddon Ave - and for what came next. When they finally got back home, Nick got down on one knee in front of the Christmas tree and proposed with "Lean on Me" playing in the background and their cat Minnie watching from the stairs. And, of course - Christine said yes!
