They both swiped right. He remembers doing it, she thinks maybe her friend was swiping for her? They messaged back and forth for a few weeks and realized they had a lot in common. They both had graduated from UH (Go Coogs!), They both came from big families. They were both teachers and they lived close by. They decided to meet up for dinner and drinks, but she had food poisoning… so, she lied and said it was her brother’s birthday. They rescheduled and met up at Mo’s Irish Pub for drinks. She was so nervous she called one of her friends to try and bail on the date. She hid out in her car until he walked by. He looked normal and not really like a serial killer, so she walked in. They had drinks and talked for hours, laughing the whole time. The next weekend she went to New Orleans for Halloween with two of her girlfriends. He went to a friend’s party. One night out on Bourbon St. she gets a text from him saying how much he liked her, and the rest is history.
He asked her parents’ for permission to marry her at a crawfish boil without her knowing. He went with his mom to look for a ring, hoping she knew something more than he did about diamonds. Over a few weeks the ring was picked out and it was time to put the plan into action. The engagement was like any other engagement. It happened at 6:30AM! Yes, you read that right. They had a cruise scheduled with her family and he thought the cruise would be the perfect time to pop the question. Unfortunately, nerves about losing the ring and having a ship full of people watching the private moment spoiled his master plan. So, there they were in front of her house at the crack of dawn, just the way she always imagined it.
