We met in real life, if you can believe it. ‘Twas the weekend before the pandemic shut down every bar and restaurant in Los Angeles, and we both went out solo to our mutual friend Lyndsay’s poetry reading/whiskey tasting at The Study in Los Feliz. Christine sat next to Mathieu before the reading and struck up a conversation. A free Bushmills whiskey tasting made the whole thing feel like an accidental date. Before leaving, Mathieu got Christine’s number (woohoo!)
The library is a historical building dating back to 1930 and was one of the first community buildings on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It functioned as a library, movie theater, art gallery, and even safe storage for residents’ valuables when they went out of town. Our ceremony will take place in the lovely courtyard in front of the building, and our dinner will be held just inside in the old movie theater, which now serves as a gallery and event space. You will see the antique ticket booth as you enter. With this in mind, we're throwing a 1930's themed event, with champagne coups and ostrich feathers. Please feel free to dress accordingly if you are so inclined! Also, if you walk the grounds keep an eye peeled for the wild peacocks that wander the neighborhood and nest in the trees. They are quite vocal and love attention!
