How We Met

The millennial story of boy meets girl, with a classic Philly twist.

The story begins in 1968 at St. John Neumann High School in South Philadelphia. Two long-haired Italian hippies met and forged a friendship that has lasted for 50 years.... In other words, their dads went to high school together! Despite their dads being good friends, Christine and Leonardo never really knew each other. However, over the course of many years, their paths would occasionally cross. Leonardo would see Christine and think, "My god, what a babe!" and Christine would think, "He must be a Clooney!" They went on to live their lives, with Leonardo receiving his PhD in neuroscience and Christine getting her MSN as a nurse practitioner. Time went on, as it usually does, when one night in 2018, they ran into each other while out dancing with friends and in true millennial fashion they began "chatting" and "hanging out." They got to know each other as friends, conversed about their shared love of movies, music, traveling, reading, and dancing — especially at the infamous and magical L’Etage (RIP). It was a mutual easy feeling of love between these two and in no time he had taken her to her first music festival in Austin, Texas to see Sir Paul McCartney, which was a dream for her as a huge Beatles fan. As lovers of travel they ventured to Mexico, Portugal, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Miami, and LA. They both had the experience of a lifetime in London seeing Stevie Wonder live in concert and personally met him afterwards (shout out to Captain Kirk!). They celebrated New Years Eve 2019 in Rome and wined and dined in the streets of Florence. Though, they both can agree that their trip to Sonoma, CA would be one for the books. On a hot September morning, they woke up at 7am to go for a hike on the Sonoma Overlook Trail. By the time they got to the top, the temperature had climbed to 105 degrees and Christine was ready to call it a day, but the sprawling view of vineyards was too spectacular to leave. Leonardo started talking about how beautiful the scenery was and how wonderful it is to have a partner to share it with. Next thing she knew, he was down on one knee with that gorgeous vintage gold diamond ring that he designed himself. She was utterly surprised and had once again, fell head over heels for this extraordinary man. For the rest of the trip they were both floating on air...
