It is about an hour to an hour and a half drive.

Question

Question

Do I need a rental car, or is it easy to get around without one?

Answer

A rental car is helpful if you plan to explore Ireland before or after the wedding, but not essential for the wedding itself.

Question

Is there a room block or discounted rate for guests?

Answer

Yes! We’ve secured a preferred rate at Kilkea Castle. View our travel and accommodations page for more details.

Answer

We recommend booking flights and accommodations as soon as possible, ideally 4–6 months in advance, to secure the best rates and availability.

Question

Do I need a passport or visa to travel to Ireland?

Answer

U.S. citizens need a valid passport but do not need a visa for short tourist stays (up to 90 days). Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months past your travel dates.

Question

Answer

We invite guests to dress in formal attire. Think elegant evening wear that feels comfortable for a castle setting.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Irish weather can be charmingly unpredictable, expect mild temperatures around 55°F–70°F with a mix of sun and clouds. We recommend bringing a light jacket or wrap.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

As much as we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration so that everyone can relax and enjoy the weekend.

Question

Is there a welcome party or other events during the weekend?

Answer

Yes! We’ll be hosting a Welcome Party on Wednesday, May 20th, at Hermione's Restaurant. Details and timing can be found on our Itinerary page.

Answer

Weather permitting, our ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors on the castle grounds. The dinner reception will follow indoors.

Question

Answer

Please arrive by 1:45 PM to allow time to be seated and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before the ceremony begins.

Question

What time will festivities end?

Answer

The reception will continue until around 2:00 AM, followed by an optional late-night gathering for those who wish to keep celebrating!

Question

What can I do in the area before or after the wedding?

Answer

Ireland is full of charm! Explore nearby villages, castles, and pubs, or make a trip to Dublin, Galway, or the Cliffs of Moher. We’ll share a few of our favorite spots on the Travel page.

Question

Should I tip in Ireland?

Answer

Tipping isn’t required but is appreciated. A 10–12% tip for good service at restaurants is standard; round up for taxis and hotel staff.

The Republic of Ireland uses the Euro (€), while Northern Ireland uses the British Pound. Most places accept credit cards, though having a little cash on hand for small purchases is helpful.
