Persistence is a virtue

Curtis and Christine have known each other well over 35 years. They met through family members that dated. Christine was a diehard tomboy (a diamond in the rough). Curt was a down home (shy when he was around Chris) country boy. Life’s journey took them on different paths, Curt chose to serve his country, Chris being the rebel she was, chose to fight it. Through out the years they would stay in contact, whenever they would talk on the phone they would talk for hours because they would go months at a time without talking. Curtis had a ritual that he would delete contacts from his phone if he hadn’t talk with them in awhile, unfortunately Christine would be one he would delete, but as soon as he would delete her she would call. The power of suggestion, Curt would always tell Chris that he had rocking chairs on layaway for the two of them because they are going to grow old together. He would call her mother and her siblings his in laws for years. Although Curtis was clear and sure that he wanted to pursue more of a relationship, Christine was hesitant because she valued the friendship that they had developed over the years and didn’t want to jeopardize losing it. There would be on two occasions Christine would ask Curtis for some “shugga” and on both occasions he would give her a kiss like he would kiss his grandmother. Christine made fun of the grandma kiss he gave her, he promised the next time he saw her he was going to give her a nice kiss. To have Curt tell the story the next time he saw Christine he gave her a nice big kiss and from then on she was hooked! Curtis was Chris’s saving grace, it would be Curtis who would talk Christine off the ledge when she question if they was doing the right thing. Then one day as Christine was having a ledge moment, Curtis gave her a lesson in tough love, he told her to “go ahead and jump!” From that day forward they have been working to build a foundation that is unshakable..they are holding each other up!!
