We met back in summer 2016 when Callum came to the United States to coach soccer. We instantly fell for each other but were unsure how everything would work out considering the distance. At the end of summer, we talked over Chipotle just before Callum went back to the U.K and decided we wanted to and were determined to make it work. We are both so grateful for our fearlessness which has led us to SO much happiness.
We got engaged in Edinburgh, Scotland in October 2019 at the top of Arthur's Seat. It was incredibly romantic and a special memory we will never forget. Callum and I were in awe as it felt like we were in a dream once we arrived to the top of Arthur's Seat. We decided to sit down on the side of the mountain and the world felt as though it went quiet. I closed my eyes to take everything in and when I opened them, Callum had my Grandma Cerreta's ring open and he proposed like I had imagined so many times before. The moment was everything we had ever dreamt of.
My engagement ring is blessed in so many ways. Not only does it hold an abundance of history but is also a symbol of true love, family and loyalty. I am incredibly grateful to carry on my Grandma and Grandpa Cerreta's love through the same ring my Grandpa proposed with before their wedding in 1956. While my parents were visiting Italy for their first time in the fall of 2019, they met up with Callum's parents, Karen and Gerry, to spend a few days together and pass on my Grandmother's engagement and wedding ring. Like I mentioned previously, this ring has a wealth of history. During their trip together, our parents went to St. Peter's Basilica where they were able to have the rings blessed by a priest (see picture under "photos" tab) which has been so special and has meant so much to the both of us. I am so thankful to have someone in my life who understands me the way Callum does and a family that supports us unconditionally in the most remarkable ways.
