Clayton and Christine were neighbors in their WVU freshman dorm and technically met on move-in day (8.18.11), when their RA forced all members of 4th Floor Central to be "social" and "participate in ice breakers." Over the course of the year though, they bonded over engineering assignments and became close friends. They would hang out in the dorm’s 4th floor community room with a small group of friends, walk over to Summit Cafe for burning hot cheesy bread, or otherwise go on adventures throughout Morgantown (shoutout to Q'doba's Taco Tuesday and the always classic Sonic). Their friendship continued to grow, even as Christine left to study abroad for a semester sophomore year.
The summer that Christine returned from her semester abroad, the two reunited with some of their closest friends for the Firefly music festival in Dover, DE. Even after 5 months apart, their friendship didn't skip a beat. They continued to grow closer in the coming months and as school started back up in the fall, sparks began to fly. After a few dates in Morgantown, including dinner at Puglioni's Italian restaurant, star-gazing on a Grant Ave roof, and Labor Day cookout with Clayton's family, the two officially became a couple on the sixth of September, 2013.
After graduating together at WVU, the couple moved to North Carolina, although at first a few hours apart (her in Charlotte, him in Asheville). Christine loved her time in Charlotte but noticed there were some things missing - Clayton and the mountains! In 2017, Christine joined Clayton in Asheville, their now home away from home. You can typically find them in one of two places: hiking around town or grabbing a beer at a local brewery. After six years of dating, Clayton and Christine got engaged on a beautiful fall day while exploring the Biltmore Estate's trails.
Now, the two are excited to invite everyone to join them in celebrating their wedding on 7.31.21 in Snowshoe, WV. The place is special to both of them - a favorite winter spot for him and summer spot for her. Clayton has spent many snowy days skiing there with both family and close friends. Christine has always loved visiting Snowshoe with her family in the warmer months; they even once did a day-long hike searching for geocaches around the mountain.
