My sophomore year at the Colorado School of Mines I joined ROTC for the spring semester of 2017 (just for fun of course!)

Kiser, known by his last name to the army, was called "K. Lee" on account of there being two Lees. This of course meant that he's been "KayLee" in my phone ever since.

By a turn of fate, Kiser, being a freshman, was assigned as my mentee. Not that I was a particularly useful mentor considering I didn't know a thing!

We instantly hit it off and became best friends! Except I don't have any photos together...since he had a girlfriend... (I did get a video of his backflip in 2017)

Recognize my dress at the 2017 Military Ball? Sadly, I wasn't the one to spend it with Kiser that year.

So, we went our separate ways, and I decided I wanted to be a Medical Physicist! We never truly let go, as a year later we reconnected (both now unsure of the other's feelings...)

After graduation, I moved to Madison, WI to pursue Therapeutic Medical Physics...for the next four years.

It was when he came out to visit me in Madison in 2021 that I thought, maybe he does love me?

We stayed in touch over the years, only talking when we were both single. He would even be my +1 to weddings!

When I returned to Colorado, I reached out hoping Kiser may still be there (and single). He was! It was as if no time had passed. Except this time, I was done being "just friends".

Five months later, Kiser proposed to me February 17, 2024 at my parent's house the night of the Military Ball.

Not two months later, Kiser left and headed to the Middle East in May 2024 for his 9 month deployment with the Colorado Army National Guard.
