COVID Precautions: - Thank you for sending us your vaccination record! It'll make everything go more smoothly on the day-of, and we really appreciate your help. We've actually received every single guest's vaccination record, which we hope allows you to feel safe and comfortable attending the wedding. - Masks are required indoors in Boulder County unless you're actively eating or drinking. We'll have cloth masks available at the ceremony, or you're welcome to bring and wear your own. We appreciate you wearing your mask over your mouth and nose at all times indoors, unless you're sitting down eating and/or drinking. - Please feel free to wear your mask outdoors. It's a pandemic, and we understand that people have different levels of risk tolerance. - Weather permitting, everything that can be held outdoors will be. Unless there's snow coming out of the sky (which is entirely possible in early October) we plan to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancing outdoors. We'll have heaters and blankets, but it will get chilly out. Please dress in/bring layers so you're comfortable. We also recommend that you wear close-toed shoes. Other info: - The wedding will begin at 5:00pm MT. Please plan to be at the Boulder JCC (6007 Oreg Ave. Boulder, CO) by 4:45pm. There's plenty of parking close to the building. The ceremony will take place (weather permitting) on the west patio of the building. In the event that the weather doesn't cooperate we'll have signs directing you where to go. - There will be a security officer on the premises patrolling around to ensure that everyone is safe throughout the event. This is totally normal, sadly, for Jewish events held in Jewish spaces. - The attire for the event is "semi-formal". Please wear or bring layers! - We'll have an open-bar, which we ask you to enjoy responsibly. Please, especially, don't drink and drive. It's very easy to use ride-sharing in Boulder, and we want to ensure everyone gets to where they're going safely.
Head over to the RSVP page (at the top left on the desktop version of the site, and the second option down on the mobile version of the site) before August 15, 2021 to let us know if you're planning to attend, please! No one who can safely receive a vaccination for COVID-19 will be admitted to the wedding without proof of vaccination. Please either plan to bring a physical copy of your vaccination record or photograph to the event, or you can email a copy to cjandjtgetmarried@gmail.com before the wedding and we'll get you checked off. Every member of each party who can safely do so must be vaccinated, including "plus ones". We ask that you discuss this with any guests you might bring so there's no confusion or disappointment. If it's not medically possible for you to get the vaccine, please reach out so we know and can accommodate you. We understand and respect that the decision to get vaccinated is a personal one. While we'll miss those of you who choose not to receive a vaccine, our priority is the health and safety of all our guests and the broader community. This commitment to ensuring that we can gather safely means that we must hold a firm line around requiring vaccines for those who can safely receive one. We hope that this doesn't cause too much hurt for folks, and that everyone understands why we've decided to proceed with this requirement in place. We will have re-usable cloth masks available at the event. Consider it a gift, and a sign of the times. Depending on public health and safety measures in place in October, there may be masking requirements in place. We'll keep you updated as we hear about any changes in protocol. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Christina or Joshua with any questions, or if you'd like to talk more about this or anything else.
We're so excited and honored that many of you are joining us from out-of-town. We love the opportunity to show off Colorado. There's a ton of information on this site to help you plan your trip. First, while it's possible to get around using ride sharing services like Lyft and Uber you may want to consider renting a vehicle while you're in town. Denver International Airport is about 45 minutes from Boulder, depending on traffic. If you're planning to stay for the weekend the cost of taking a ride share to different locations will likely be about equal to the cost of having rented a car, and you'll have more mobility and flexibility with your own vehicle. Check with the hotel you choose to see if they charge for parking overnight, though. The Travel page has details for booking a hotel in one of the room blocks we've set up. Each hotel was selected for its cost and/or proximity to family and the venue. Hopefully you find something that suits you. There are also a number of Airbnb's in Boulder and the surrounding area if that's more your style. We've provided some ideas of different things you can do around Boulder and Denver on the Things to Do page while you're here. Hopefully you'll take at least a day or two extra while you're in Colorado for the wedding to explore. Finally, the FAQ page has good overall information about navigating Colorado in Autumn. There's a lot in there about how to deal with the altitude, and how to dress for the weather.
Like a lot of modern love stories, we met on a dating app. Christina downloaded an app while she was waiting for an oil change, and Joshua was the first person she matched with. They chatted every day for about a month, and eventually Christina asked Joshua on their first date. She was, predictably, 15 minutes late for their date, but made up for it by buying the first round of drinks. Joshua, never one to play by the dating rules, called Christina the very next day to ask her out for another date that evening to watch the season premiere of the last season of Game of Thrones together. They saw each other twice more that week. And the rest is history.
March 2019- Christina and Joshua "match" April 2019- Christina asks Joshua out on their first date. He asks her out for their second date the next day. May 2019- Joshua initiates the "relationship talk", saying that they should date exclusively because of "feelings... and hygiene". July 2019- Joshua and Christina travel to California together to see where Joshua grew up, and to experience Christina's favorite spots in L.A. September 2019- Christina surprised Joshua with a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico for his birthday. They ate a ton of green chilies, and rode bikes around town. November 2019- Christina (and Bubba) move in with Joshua, and that weekend head to Austin for his family's annual Thanksgiving gathering in Austin, TX. April 25, 2020 ("The Perfect Date" - SEE "Miss Congeniality" the movie)- Joshua surprises Christina with a proposal in the thick of a pandemic. She, of course, says yes even though she's in her sweatpants at the time. October 2020- Christina and Joshua sign their contract to be married in one year at the Boulder Jewish Community Center. November 2020- Christina completes her classes to convert to Judaism. She's also perfected her challah recipe at this point. October 2021- Joshua and Christina say "I do!" in front of our beloved friends and family!
