Christina and John met at Syracuse University ten years ago. Christina was a freshman and John just one year older. Doing what any romantic in 2009 would do, John used a Facebook message to make his big introduction. It wasn't exactly a bold gesture, but Christina was intrigued! While their paths crossed at a handful of parties, their relationship never evolved beyond social media and the two went their separate ways throughout the rest of their college careers. A few years later when Christina was living in New York City, she was surprised to get a text from John. He was going to be in the city visiting friends and wanted to take her out for a drink. Christina was hesitant at first, but reluctantly agreed to meet him at The Penrose on the Upper East Side. The two had a great time reminiscing over their college years and ended the night with their first kiss in the lobby of Christina's apartment building. Again, the timing still wasn't right. John headed back to Rhode Island and Christina continued on with her life in NYC. Over the next few years, the two exchanged occasional messages if they were in the same city, but it never amounted to much. Finally, in the Fall of 2016 when John was living in Jacksonville and Christina was about to move to Austin, the stars aligned. Christina was temporarily living back home in Norwich and John was home in Syracuse for Thanksgiving break. The two agreed to give it another try and went to a local dive bar where they talked for hours over a Syracuse basketball game. This time, things instantly clicked and both knew they weren't going to let go. In fact, on Christina's drive home from that date she told her best friend (and now maid of honor!) that she was going to marry John. After nearly eight months of dating long-distance while Christina was in Austin, John convinced her to make the leap and move to Florida. Soon after, during a 6am walk on the beach with their handsome dog Maverick, John proposed and Christina said 'yes'!
